“Vision. Legacy. Transformation.”

Zimbabwe stands as a testament to remarkable resilience and progress. A significant turning point occurred in November 2017 with the establishment of the Second Republic under President Emmerson Mnangagwa. This transformation initiated a series of ambitious initiatives, including Vision 2030, the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1, 2021–2025), and NDS2 (2026–2030), alongside major infrastructure projects, health and education advancements, and proactive economic re-engagement policies.

With robust support from the government and international partners like China and Russia, these strategic efforts are designed to propel Zimbabwe to upper-middle-income status by 2030. The “New Dispensation” has already yielded impressive results, showcasing significant stabilisation and accelerating growth, especially in light of the termination of the broad US Zimbabwe sanctions program in 2024. Zimbabwe is on a clear path toward a prosperous future.

Economic Landscape: Steady Growth and Diversification

Post-2017, the Second Republic decisively prioritized fiscal discipline, implemented crucial currency reforms (notably the ZiG in 2024), and pursued aggressive sector diversification. The National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) centered on achieving macroeconomic stability, with a strong emphasis on mining and agriculture. As a result, the GDP has consistently expanded, reaching approximately $44 billion in recent years. IMF projections indicate a robust rebound to 6% growth in 2025, driven by agriculture, soaring gold prices, and significant remittances. Inflation has been effectively curbed, reinforcing economic stability. Foreign direct investment is on the rise, particularly in the booming mining sectors of lithium and gold. Land reforms have empowered Black-owned farms to achieve unprecedented tobacco and wheat yields, significantly boosting exports.

Infrastructure: Building for the Future
The Second Republic’s Vision 2030 has catalyzed an intensive “brick-by-brick” development strategy. This includes the rehabilitation of essential highways, such as the Beitbridge-Bulawayo-Harare route, the expansion of Kariba South Power Station to increase capacity, modernization of airports like Robert Gabriel Mugabe International, and proactive rural water projects. Thousands of kilometers of roads have been upgraded, energy initiatives have strengthened resilience through solar and hydro capabilities, and advancements in telecommunications promote digital inclusion. The forthcoming National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) will further drive beneficiation, particularly in lithium processing, to amplify the value of exports. These extensive projects have garnered acclaim for ensuring sustained economic growth.

Health and Social Services: Modernization and Expansion

The Second Republic has decisively constructed and rehabilitated numerous clinics and hospitals, equipping them with state-of-the-art tools such as MRI machines and solar power solutions. The government procured ambulances and air rescue services, expanded nurse training, and revived specialised treatments. As a result, life expectancy has increased, and child mortality has declined, effectively aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals for universal coverage by 2030.

Education and Innovation: Bold Reforms Ahead

Education 5.0 is firmly rooted in heritage-based, innovation-driven learning, showcasing new innovation hubs, industrial parks, state-of-the-art science labs, and a strong emphasis on STEM and vocational skills. Enrolment numbers have surged, and our modern facilities are fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and critical thinking, complementing Zimbabwe’s commendably high literacy rate.

Foreign Relations: Primed for Business
President Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is open for business” initiative has significantly strengthened our ties with BRICS nations, Africa, and beyond. Partnerships with Russia for health support and China for infrastructure development have diversified collaborations. The termination of the 2024 US sanctions program has opened doors for renewed engagement and opportunity.

In summary, the Second Republic has laid a robust foundation for rapid progress, confidently propelling Zimbabwe toward an upward trajectory. With NDS2, our nation is fully poised to realize Vision 2030 as an empowered and prosperous society.
